The5%ers has released a new trader interview featuring Will, a 23-year-old full-time funded trader who shared how trading transformed his career and lifestyle.
In the interview, Will explained that he began trading at just 17 years old, spending several early years learning through trial and error. At 19, he decided to take trading seriously after working in healthcare testing during the pandemic. By the age of 20, he made the leap into full-time trading, initially using personal capital before transitioning into prop firm funding.
Will described his rapid progression through the industry, including gaining placements on major prop firm leaderboards and scaling multiple funded accounts. He highlighted that working with The5%ers provided some of the most favorable trading conditions he had experienced, allowing him to focus on consistency rather than rushing to pass every evaluation.
According to Will, his approach treats prop firm challenges as a probability-based system. By maintaining a pass rate between 30% and 50% and managing funded accounts carefully, he has generated strong returns. He revealed that he has withdrawn approximately $13,000 from The5%ers while spending significantly less on challenge fees.
One of the most striking moments shared during the interview involved a payout earned while traveling in Greece. Will explained that he placed a single trade from a boat, left the account untouched for two weeks, and later received a $1,600 payout. “That was what I used to earn at my job,” he said, emphasizing how trading has reshaped his lifestyle.
Will also discussed the psychological side of prop trading, noting that payouts become routine over time and that losing funded accounts is part of the business. He explained that diversification across multiple prop firms and reinvesting payouts has helped him maintain a steady income, even during difficult trading periods.
Despite experiencing recent drawdowns, Will stated that he continues to average strong monthly withdrawals across several firms. He believes that understanding the prop firm model and managing risk effectively are key factors that separate long-term profitable traders from those who fail.
