In an exclusive interview, FundedNext sat down with Kamal Dine, a 27-year-old professional basketball player turned trader based in Italy. Originally from Ghana, Kamal has been living in Italy for 17 years and began his trading journey during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Kamal shared his experiences navigating the challenging world of trading. “I started trading like many others during the pandemic, but I faced a rough start, losing money and nearly quitting,” he recalled. However, after taking a seven-month break, he returned with a renewed focus and a solid trading plan.
Today, Kamal trades primarily on the NASDAQ and employs a strategy that he has meticulously backtested for two years. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining discipline and sticking to a consistent approach. “My strategy is straightforward; I aim for a one-to-three risk-to-reward ratio. If I take a loss, I simply adjust and try again,” he explained.
When discussing his trading routine, Kamal revealed that he mainly focuses on the New York trading session. “This is when I find the most liquidity and opportunity for good setups,” he noted. He also shared insights on his risk management approach, typically risking between 0.5% and 1% of his capital on each trade.
Kamal is currently trading with FundedNext. “FundedNext has been a game changer for me. The spreads and market conditions are perfect, and the payout process is incredibly quick,” he stated. He expressed confidence in FundedNext’s potential to become a leading firm in the industry.
As for advice to aspiring traders, Kamal emphasizes patience and discipline. “Trading is about mentality. If you stick to your plan and take your time, you’ll build something solid. Money has energy; if you rush, you risk losing it just as fast,” he advised.
