In an exclusive FundedNext interview, part-time trader Debajyoti from Kolkata, India, shared insights into his trading journey. Associated with trading for over four to five years, Debajyoti first began his trading career in the Indian stock market, focusing on indices like Nifty50 and Nifty Bank. After three years, he transitioned to Forex trading, where he has been active for the past year and a half.
Debajyoti explained how he was introduced to Forex through friends who were already involved in the market. After gathering knowledge and experience, he began developing his own strategies. Although still working as a medical representative, Debajyoti finds time after work to focus on trading, aiming to eventually transition to full-time trading.
Initially, Debajyoti focused on daily trading, holding positions for no more than 24 hours. However, he has recently shifted toward swing trading, developing a strategy with a time frame of four to five days based on charts spanning one to two months. “I’m still in the backtesting phase,” he said, “but my goal is to build a robust swing trading strategy.”
Debajyoti primarily trades major FX pairs, having started with GBP/USD, or “cable,” due to its volatility. Now, he trades a broader range of instruments to align with his evolving strategy. Using trend lines, resistance zones, and supply-demand analysis, he formulates his trades technically without relying on market news.
One of the most important aspects of Debajyoti’s strategy is risk-reward management. He emphasized the significance of maintaining a minimum risk-reward ratio of 1:2. “Even if your success rate is 60%, with a good risk-reward ratio, you can come out ahead,” he explained. “For instance, in 10 trades, if you lose four and win 6, you still end up profitable by 8%. Even a 30% success rate can yield profits if you manage your risks correctly.”
Debajyoti has been trading with FundedNext for a while and speaks highly of the platform. “The experience has been very positive,” he shared. “Their backend team is responsive and quick to solve any issues I’ve encountered. I’ve already received a payout of around $1,500, and their processing time is very fast.”
