In an exclusive interview with The5%ers, successfully funded trader Sameer opened up about his trading journey, challenges, and the strategies that helped him consistently achieve payouts.
Sameer revealed that early on in his trading career, he struggled with strategy hopping—a common hurdle for many traders. “If someone is starting out in trading, you should avoid hopping between strategies unless you’ve tried one for at least 6 to 8 months without results. Give yourself time to gather data, maybe 3 to 4 months, then stick to one strategy and take only one to two trades per day with 1% risk,” he advised. According to Sameer, this disciplined approach builds confidence and improves chances of success.
His journey began in 2019 with binary options, where he unfortunately lost borrowed money before transitioning to forex trading. Over the next few years, he honed his skills and faced several setbacks, including account breaches and disabled funded accounts. However, perseverance paid off. Sameer now manages a live funded account with The5%ers valued at $80,000 and has accumulated over $32,000 in total payouts.
Discussing the emotional side of trading, Sameer recalled his first payout from a $100,000 challenge. “I made about 9% profit and earned $8,100. I was in the car when I saw the money credited to my crypto wallet—it was an amazing moment,” he said.
When asked about his trading methodology, Sameer explained his core strategy, which revolves around liquidity grabs, structure shifts, and Fibonacci retracements. He emphasized the importance of waiting for clear confirmations, such as head and shoulders patterns or consolidation breakouts, before entering trades. He also combines multiple time frame analyses, typically using the 4-hour, 15-minute, and daily charts to validate trade setups and improve win rates.
Regarding risk management, Sameer revealed he typically risks 1% per trade on his live account, occasionally increasing to 2% if he has a buffer. “On challenges, I never go above 2%. It’s crucial to manage risk carefully to protect your capital,” he explained.
